Any garden, patio or porch can benefit from a decorative bird house. Since they come in such a wide variety of sizes, colors and shapes, you can easily find one that appropriately matches the style of your garden. Most decorative bird houses can also function as a suitable nesting place for birds.

Each bird species has unique territory requirements. Check into these differences when placing multiple houses. Some birds are very territorial and will not let others near or inside their houses. It is possible that one of the bird houses will be empty if you happen to place two bird houses close by. Place the bird houses in accordance with the typical territory of each species of bird.
You should also place some bird feeders next to the decorative bird houses. The food will attract them to your bird houses, and they will likely stay to raise their families.
